Everyone who started playing through the first parts of Final Fantasy has their own reasons. Someone wants to understand how the genre began, to pay tribute to the great series of games, to remember youth, the reasons may be a carriage and a small cart.
I decided to do this because of stupid “game perfectionism”. How can I play the sixteenth part of the game without trying the fifteen previous ones?? Even if they are not connected in any way by plot, it doesn’t matter, my brain requires a sequential passage! I hope I’m not the only one.
Here we need to immediately discuss the point that the first Final Fantasy can be played on almost anything. Seriously, it’s even available on mobile devices. I wouldn’t say that the versions of the game feel different on different devices; all versions after NES are generally similar to each other, although there are some differences. In any case, my choice fell on the collection Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Soul released for the GBA. I wanted to play through this series in handheld mode, a bit of an easy stroll. The version for Android kept crashing for me, the version for NES was too outdated (although it undoubtedly has its own magical atmosphere), I didn’t have a PSP at hand. Therefore, there was no choice, we rolled up the emulator on NDS and went on an adventure!
Let’s move on to the results. Did https://playspielothek-casino.co.uk/games/ I like the game? This is a very simple question that is difficult for me to answer. The game is simple and has something carefree about it. You are good, your enemies are evil – do your job, hero! This naivety and simplicity benefit the game; it undoubtedly has its own atmosphere, and I really appreciate it.
The music in the game is really great, I sometimes listen to it in my free time from the game
Well, no matter what atmosphere the music, locations, characters and any plot create – it all collapses due to two main problems. You know, I don’t play JRPGs that often, but I’ve already come to terms with the fact that this genre is inherently grindy. And I must say, in one of the first games in this genre, it turns out to be as disgusting and exhausting as possible. If you want to beat this game, just accept the fact that the combat here is a dull affair that can only be interesting during boss fights and the first hours of the game. Otherwise, random battles are just annoying. This is not a pleasant grind, but an exhausting process in which you press the same button over and over again. Whenever I hear the battle theme from this game (which is cool, by the way), I feel incredibly bored and want to quit.
But this is not the main problem, don’t think. The main stumbling block for me was that this game is impossible to play without a guide at hand. The GBA version I played simply doesn’t have a map or any markers; The dialogue is very short and you have to be Sherlock to figure out where to go, I’m serious. And you know, when you go through the game according to the guides, it just becomes boring and dull.
An important note to make: as far as I know, the PC, Mobile and PSP versions have the ability to view the world map. But here I am speaking exclusively from my experience.
Probably the real experience of this game can only be obtained in its original version. And no, I don’t mean the NES emulator. To really enjoy the gameplay, you should buy the NES console itself, a Final Fantasy cartridge, find an old TV and turn off notifications on your phone for a while. You tell me that this is a retro perversion and you will be completely right. But, in my opinion, only by returning to those times can you truly appreciate the old game. You can also download the official manual, which is available on the Internet, although, frankly speaking, most of the information in it is already obvious, it is unlikely to help you in any way. But maybe the manual should be like this for a full experience? I don’t know this yet)
I think in this format you can really immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the game and have a good time
If you are a fan of the Final Fantasy series and love its first part, then I will be only glad to read what you like about this game, which version you prefer. And that’s all for me, thank you very much for reading this text, see you soon!
